Toronto Japanese Garden Club
We are a group of like-minded individuals with a shared interest in gardening, who focus on preserving and celebrating Japanese culture and aesthetics.
We have deep roots in Toronto…
In the fall of 1952, a group of people who were active in the Toronto Buddhist Church began meeting informally. They were interested in sharing their rich cultural heritage with others in the Toronto area.
This group had the foresight of wanting to continue traditional Japanese arts such as landscape gardening, bonsai and ikebana. It was a bold vision of inclusion and reaching beyond.
In the present day, our group members continue to honour this vision, and create a community where all who are interested are welcome.
Annual Fall Flowers and Bonsai Show
JCCC, 6 Sakura Way, Kobayashi Hall
Noon - 4:30 PM
This annual fall show features a competition of show chrysanthemums, a display of bonsai from Toronto Bonsai Society and ikebana arrangements by four different ikebana schools.
Patrons can enjoy our extensive selection of unusual plants for sale, browse our Ginza marketplace for unique items or relax with friends over a cup of green tea and Japanese food items.
There will be two educational talks – one on three popular Japanese plants and another on what judges look for when evaluating show mums.
Returning this year are ikebana and bonsai demonstrations; raffle tickets, pumpkin painting, hands-on ikebana – a fun activity for the whole family.
